HEALTHCARE: A lie is still a lie

| November 10, 2013 8:00 PM

On 7/18/09 President Barack Hussein Obama stated “if you like your doctor, you keep your doctor. If you like your current insurance, you keep that insurance. Period. End of story.” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83FvLjsUOJg at the 3:50 mark and watch the words roll off the silver tongue).

We received a letter dated September 2013 from my wife’s insurance company stating “Your existing insurance policy with Blue Cross of Idaho does not meet all of the ACA requirements and you will need to enroll in a new qualified health plan before your renewal date in 2014.” Wow! Did my president lie to me?

We liked the existing policy, but it looks like we won’t be able to “keep that insurance. Period. End of story.” We tried to go to the Idaho “Marketplace” and here is another labyrinth to negotiate, and so far have not been able to find out how much a new policy will cost us. Monday’s front page story was about (surprise) Idaho’s Insurance Exchange and its own set of woes and hanky-panky. And how about Executive Director Amy Dowd making $175,000 annually? Where does that kind of money come from? Enrollees, you and me.

How long before people wake up and realize that government has no business being in business — especially as personal as our healthcare. “Change,” you got it. Let’s “Hope” that we have some candidates in the upcoming elections that we can hire to bring this country back from the precipice of socialism or worse — total collapse.
