ABORTION: Self-control is the key

| November 6, 2013 8:00 PM

I am very sorry for Mr. Gillmore, whose letter was published Wednesday, Oct. 23. He was the proud father of “three great kids.” He is blessed to have those children. It is too bad he did not get a chance to meet his “seven more” who were killed through abortion.

It is comforting to read that Mr. Gillmore has compassion for children. In his letter he states he cannot “fathom giving away one of my kids” through adoption. He did fathom killing seven of his children before they were born, through abortion. I would say that is giving them away in a much more horrendous fashion.

Mr. Gillmore asserts that the majority of the women getting abortions are “not yet 21 years old.” According to statistics found at Abort73.com, women between the ages of 20-24 had the highest rates of abortion during the year 2009. Also, according to this same website, “9 in 10 women at risk of unintended pregnancies are using a contraceptive method.” This would seem to bolster the idea that abortion is used as a means of contraception, as in Mr. Gillmore’s case.

Finally Mr. Gillmore would like to keep God, the Author of life, out of the discussion, “unless God is going to start handing out birth control.” I contend that God has given each human being birth control, it’s called self-control and it is one thing which separates us from the animals.
