LEADERS: Vote for these four

| November 1, 2013 9:00 PM

The City Council election is quickly turning into a showdown between two very different and distinct teams. One is a team of highly engaged, community-minded citizens and the other team appears to be less tolerant of any change in our community, especially a number of public use projects that have come to fruition over the past decade. The team led by Steve Widmyer encourages citizen participation at every level, while Mary Souza’s group draws a line in the sand and calls out by name specific community leaders whom they don’t happen to approve or agree with.

There is no point in electing officials who intentionally set out to pit hardworking citizens against one another. I want city leaders who have a vision for this community that includes all citizens. I don’t want leaders purposely dividing our community into winners and losers. Candidates seeking trusted leadership positions should have the credentials, track record, and trust to unite and encourage all citizens to participate in government. Our elected leaders need to do more than point out problems and challenges faced by our community, they need to use their skills to seek solutions.

If you want a team of leaders whom you can trust to act in the best interest of all citizens, vote Steve Widmyer, Amy Evans, Kiki Miller and Woody McEvers.
