HOLLYWOOD: Poor guide for a nation
As Hollywood and the entertainment industry goes, so goes the nation. There was a time when the average family consisted of a man, wife and two or more children all with the same surname. Movies ended with the man and woman being married and riding off into the sunset with bells and tin cans clanging on the pavement.
Studio directors and producers gradually replaced the father figure with “wonder women” who were depicted as divorced or single persons supporting their children by multitasking. Now, the father-figure appears in commercials depicted as some idiot that can’t tie his shoes.
Hollywood made cohabitation acceptable and Liberace popularized homosexuality — the term is now modernized to being “gay.” It is ironic that one group refrains from marriage and the gay community demands the right of same-sex marriage.
The president and liberal legislators insist gay marriage be allowed. The High Court may agree. The Bible is quite clear on the issue but also says “Judge not, that you be not judged.” I do, however, object to the entertainment industry constantly pushing its agenda.
The greater majority of those marching for desegregation in the 1960s were Christians. For those who hold the Bible as their moral guide, fully embracing homosexuality is a different and an impossible pill to swallow. I fear, in the near-future, some clergyman standing behind his own pulpit, giving advice to his parishioners against the practice of same-sex marriage and intercourse, will be taken to court for preaching hate. Don’t hold your breath waiting for the ACLU to come to the defense of the clergyman’s right to freedom of speech. Which side of the issue will our local Human Rights Task Force support? Political correctness is getting out of hand!
Christian faith will be tested — Jesus predicts it — read Mark 13:3-13.
