MARATHON: Cheer away, Cd'A!

| May 26, 2013 9:00 PM

We all know that Coeur d’Alene is a special place: beautiful, first and foremost, but just slightly less obvious is a terrific mosaic of the grand, the practical, cowboy and chic, loud and whisper quiet. To swipe a phrase from Johnny Cash, I’ve been everywhere man, and I contend that Coeur d’Alene is one inspirational city, the place itself picks you up and gets you moving.

We have a great opportunity to celebrate Coeur d’Alene this weekend and to show it off a bit too. This morning we’ll see the 36th running of Coeur d’Alene Marathon. Runners love the cool temperatures and beautiful scenery of this race that attracts more than 2,500 folks from all over the world. Runners also love the cheerful volunteers lining the course to support their quest and especially cheering crowds to urge them on.

So grab a cowbell or another noisemaker, exercise the vocal cords for a steady stream of loud encouragement, and get out this morning to cheer on these marathon men and women. You’ll be inspired by their fortitude and you’ll be part of their Coeur d’Alene inspiration.
