Drive for Hope
Drive for Hope is partnering with the Hayden Chamber of Commerce this year for its 4th annual golf tournament on June 21 at Avondale Golf Course.
While there are many benefit golf tournaments, none quite compare with this event. I have played many tournaments over the years but have never had as much fun or adventure as the Drive for Hope.
The Salvation Army Kroc Center staff along with Hayden Chamber Board members know not only how to organize a quality event, but they sure know how to smile and make you feel like your participation is truly appreciated, and it is!
Last year I partnered with two female club champion golfers along with another fabulous female golfer at this tournament. I figured that I needed a ringer team to be able to take home the coveted Salvation Army bell trophy for best female team. As it turned out, we did take the trophy, but it wasn't really based on the amazing talents of my team members. We were able to not only use our golfing skills, but along with strategy, and a bit of string, we took very few strokes per hole. In the end, my teammates, who have also played in an immeasurable amount of tournaments, parroted my sentiments that the Drive for Hope is more enjoyable than any golf experience we have collectively had!
With that one perfect shot you can win a 2013 Buick Verano provided by Robideaux Motors. Additionally, the chance to take a prize basket in our raffle, or a silent auction item is quite probable. And, you surely will come away with a stomach full of a great breakfast burrito from Pita Pit and a fabulous lunch provided by Texas Roadhouse.
Please gather a team and join us for an 8 a.m. shotgun start at my local favorite golf course. Or, you can help sponsor this event by purchasing a hole, providing a raffle item, or simply being a Drive for Hope supporter.
As my Hayden Chamber messages this year have been themed around community involvement, I add that being a part of the 4th annual Drive for Hope is what community is all about. You can be an amazing golfer, or a hacker, and come away with the knowledge that you helped scholarship children in our community to the Kroc Center and have supported your local business community.
