AGENDA: Learn and oppose it

| May 22, 2013 9:00 PM

In the “letters” section of Saturday’s “The Press” (May 18), Sharon Rogers wrote an emphatic, revealing personal endorsement of Brent Regan’s current political candidacy. At the end of her letter she asked, “BY THE WAY DO YOU KNOW WHAT U.N. AGENDA 21 IS?”

I did not, and I thank you, Sharon Rogers, for bringing “U.N. Agenda 21” to my attention. Because of your urging, I spent some time checking out the content and issues of “Agenda 21.” You are quite right: any responsible citizen would do well to inform her — or himself about the far-reaching scope and implications of that non-binding Action Plan of the United Nations. I encourage all who read this to personally make themselves familiar with that Action Plan. We ignore it at our peril.

It is clear to me that all of us who care about our planet and about the well-being of all of us living on Earth today have an obligation and a responsibility to actively support “U.N. Agenda 21” in any way that we can. I intend to do just that, and I urge every reader of “The Press” to also support “Agenda 21.”

If that support means that each of us considers with great caution the viability of any political candidate who opposes “U.N. Agenda 21,” it is certain that our educational system, and our children and grandchildren, will be the true long-term beneficiaries of that appropriate caution.

Thanks again, Sharon, for bringing this urgent matter to out attention.
