Hubert 'Hugh' L. Campbell Jr., 56
May 3, 1957 - May 9, 2013
Hugh passed peacefully May 9, 2013, at his home in Coeur d’Alene.
He attended school in Coeur d’Alene and after graduating high school went to work at the Lucky Friday mine from 1975-1989. In 1990, Hugh attended ITT Technical Institute in Spokane and after two years he went to Denver, Colo., where he received his bachelor’s degrees in electronics. Hugh worked at Rowe International in Texas, and then for Wurlitzer in Wisconsin.
In 2010 Hugh returned to Coeur d’Alene to be with his family. Shortly thereafter Hugh’s passion for helping veterans and his love for motorcycles led him to join the American Legion Riders Post 143. He soon became part of the Legion family and held the office of vice president of American Legion Riders. Hugh was also a member of the Patriot Guard.
Hugh’s hobbies included hunting, fishing trips to South America and riding his Harley. Hugh’s enthusiasm for life showed in everything he did, and will live on by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family. As he always said “Ride on brother!”
Hugh was preceded in death by his father and brother. He is survived by his mother, Billie and sister Cindy; as well as nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Lake City Community Church, 6000 N. Ramsey Road, Coeur d’Alene. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Legion Riders Post 143 in Post Falls.
