SCHOOLS: Don't bring back past
Significant controversy has been raised over the integrity and neutrality of the current SD271 Board. I fear that the reality of the former guard has been forgotten.
We endured the deceptions of remodeling Lakes Middle School. We voted to remodel, but nothing materialized. Several new schools in Northwest Cd’A were built. Architectural plans to demolish then build a new middle school were approved without voter consent. Taxpayers were compelled to pay about $800,000 for unusable plans. A failed effort to install window air conditioners to substantiate effort and the need for a new facility failed. In the end, we paid for larger classrooms without air conditioners ... where did they all go?
Then there was the flap over delayed maintenance of district headquarters. An effort to resolve mold issues ordered the removal of one tree to increase rooftop evaporation. The health of numerous employees suffered with one hospitalized.
In the ramp up to SD271 elections, issues were raised as to voting integrity. Comments on the Press Opinion Pages were shouted down. The week before elections, all was calm. After the elections, the trouncing by anonymous CEU associates continued.
Lakes was finally remodeled. District health issues have been resolved with the lease of new facilities. CEU proponents lost control of the Board after the Edie Brooks’ Illegal Fiasco. They reorganized as Balance North Idaho and want your vote to restore a lack of integrity to the School Board for “the children’s sake.”
My vote is not for sale!
