ELECTION: It's all about performance
On May 21, important, community-impacting elections will be held for local school board members, the hospital board and other local boards. By law, candidates do not identify themselves by party on the ballot.
These positions are nonpartisan because local issues are of broad community concern and do not fall in line with political party positions. To solve issues facing our community, elected officials must cooperate with each other. When not constrained by party designation, officials are more likely to work together.
The League of Women Voters has always encouraged citizens to make informed voting choices. Look for candidates with:
• a keen eye for serving the needs of the community;
• dedication to listening and serving everyone;
• the ability to make strategic choices for the well-being of the community;
• success in solving problems in the past; and
• an in-depth grasp of financial details.
The League of Women Voters of Kootenai County encourages voters to become better informed by meeting the candidates, asking questions, watching candidate forums and reading the newspaper. Remember to vote on Tuesday, May 21.
