REGAN: As real as it gets

| May 14, 2013 10:17 AM

On one side of the Cd’A School Board races we have three people who have been part of the recent system or support it: Dave Eubanks, Tom Hern and Christa Hazel.  And on the other side we have two appointees to the board, Ann Seddon and Brent Regan, and one new person, Bjorn Handeen, all of whom are trying to break the mold and improve our method of education.

Now a status quo support group has devolved into attacks on the “credentials” of those trying to shake up our ailing system, the most incredulous of which is that Brent Regan is not a “real” engineer because he does not hold advanced degrees.

What a bunch of bunk! Brent has passed the most important engineering test of all: He runs a highly successful business. Clients pay him big money and are very happy with the results.

If you look at his business web site, www.regandesigns.com, you will see a long list of successful projects, ranging from the “First successful Coronary Stent to be used in human trials in the United States”, to “Design of process equipment for the semiconductor industry”, to “Pilot Side Display for Boeing 777 and other airliners”.

Brent’s business web site also says:

“Our clients have counted on our engineering expertise when they:

   • had to salvage a project that was impossibly behind schedule

   • had run into an apparently insurmountable roadblock

   • were told by their engineering department that it couldn't be done”

Those sound like qualities we seriously need on our CdA School Board!  Be careful to study the issues and look beyond the mud slinging to see the proven abilities and beliefs of the candidates.  Please vote for those who can truly help improve the real education of our children.
