HAZEL: She's up to the task

| May 14, 2013 10:10 AM

On two separate occasions, we have spoken at length with Christa Hazel regarding her candidacy for our school district's Zone 1 seat.

Our conversations focused on the district's budget, and the possibility of the district contracting out our entire transportation services (not many in the community are aware of this.) We also discussed her approaches to solving problems and making decisions, improving communication within the district and to the community in general, and what is important in our curricula. We were encouraged by her comments and her commitment to seek all facts before casting her votes.

To us, trustworthiness within a leadership role is extremely important. This has been an issue in the public's perception of the school district leadership. This perception continues today. Christa will support no hidden agendas, nor any other actions that would betray community trust.

Christa displays an advocacy and compassion for ALL students. She is an open-minded listener, able to discern how to identify the real issues and explore options for addressing those issues. She will seek input from other sources in order to make the best decisions. Christa will research the details and ask the hard questions. These qualities are critical in making recommendations on what is best for our children and they are necessary for effective leadership.

Christa knows our community and understands the extensive and important scope of responsibilities involved in serving as a school board member.

She is up to the task. It is time for her leadership.
