REGAN: Don't just run away

| May 10, 2013 6:16 AM

"Elected officials do not help just one favored group of people, such as the rich or poor.  They make decisions based broadly, to help everyone."

That was taken from a third grade text written by the "Center for Civic Education." The simple definition of "representative" in the glossary only needs six words.  "People elected to act for others."

How can Mr. Cary be represented, if Mr. Regan won't even listen to his concerns? From what I read, it sounded like he was trying to engage a candidate concerning his platform. That shouldn't be labeled "a waste of time." For me, it is a requirement of our elected officials to have an open mind.  They don't have to agree with me, but I deserve to be heard.

My deepest concern is when faced with opposition, Mr. Regan fled. I don't think that is in the best interest of any group he may choose to represent. Citizens deserve more than that.
