HAZEL: Can put differences aside

| May 10, 2013 6:16 AM

Christa Hazel is a Republican. I am a Democrat. We are friends that respect each other’s opinions and differences. Setting political policy aside, we see eye to eye when it comes to educating our children in a public school system.

In a non-partisan race it is the voter’s responsibility to look at each candidate individually, their experience, their vision and their knowledge. Not their party affiliation.

As a school board member, I am confident that Christa will support teachers, listen to the parents and fight to put the proper building blocks in place to ensure that our kids have the educational foundation to make choices for their futures.

Some will choose to stay local and make a life here in North Idaho. Others will choose to go to college or move to a larger city, start a business of their own or patent an idea that will change the way we communicate on a global level. Our students need to be TAUGHT that the possibilities for their futures are endless. As a community we need to support, teach and grow. It’s not us vs. them. It’s Coeur d’Alene UNITE!
