SEDDON: Can stand up to union
Ann Seddon is the ideal candidate for Coeur d’Alene School Board. She brings the experience of many years of teaching in Arizona and other states. Ann has been a member of Kootenai County community for 16 years and has volunteered her time working with Coeur d’Alene students.
Her opponent has taught in the Coeur d’Alene schools for 15 years and is well-liked. However, being likable is not a reason to vote for a trustee. I fear Eubanks will not have the objectivity needed when it comes to issues concerning union negotiations and personnel matters. A few months ago he was not legally eligible to be on the ballot due to state laws, put in place to avoid conflict of interest.
Seddon does not have professional or personal ties to the Coeur d’Alene teachers’ union. The old, union-backed board led us into financial problems resulting in Cadillac benefits, as defined in Obamacare. The old board wanted to tear down Lakes Middle School, eliminating Person Field in the process. I believe Mr. Eubanks has the same “go along, get along” attitude that led to past problems. Let us not go backward.
I like both candidates personally. Both have been to my home as guests. However, I must vote for Ann Seddon. She has proven in her 10 months on the board that she is objective. She makes decisions based on what is best for the children and taxpayers. Please vote for Ann. She has proven herself to be the best candidate.

Editor’s note: Eubanks was not legally eligible to serve on the school board a few months ago because at the time, he was a teacher at Lakes Middle Magnet School. He has since retired and is therefore eligible to serve.
