Rose T. Micai, 89

| May 1, 2013 9:30 PM

Our beloved mother, Rose Theresa Mulé Micai, 89, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2013, in Coeur d’Alene. She was born March 31, 1924, in Trenton, N.J., to the late Guiseppe and Rosalia Mulé. On Aug. 26, 1945, she married Octavio Livio “Lee” Micai.

Rose was first and foremost a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She had an unwavering faith and was a true example of living her faith through actions and not just words. She was involved in many church activities at St. James Roman Catholic Church in Trenton, N.J., including acting as a former president of the Altar Rosary Society. After her husband, Lee, was ordained as a deacon, she and Lee ministered to many in local nursing homes and rehabilitation centers, and led many church ministries, including Pre Cana classes, the Evangelical Team, and Renew. Family celebrations, particularly hosting the annual family Christmas dinner on the Sunday of the Feast of the Holy Family was one of the ways they showed their love of family.

In 2008, Rose moved to Coeur d’Alene to be with her daughter and family. While there, her sweet presence, enduring faith and infectious smile continued to touch the hearts of many.

Among Rose’s greatest accomplishments were being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, where her nurturing, loving and supportive ways shined. She was a dear friend to many and will be greatly missed by her family and those who loved her and were honored to know her. Daughter of the late Guiseppe and Rosalia Mulé; beloved wife of the late Octavio “Lee” Micai; sister of the late, Salvatore, John, Grace, Catherine, Rose and Carmela; she is survived by her sons, Dennis (Donna), Kenneth (Mary Ann), Lee (Toni), and John (Lorrie); a daughter, Mary (Chris) Stewart; nephew Joseph Mulé (Mary Jo); and niece Rosalie Mulé, whom she raised. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Coeur d’Alene Homes Assisted Living and Memory Care, 624 W. Harrison Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814, where Rose lived the last year of her life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Rose may be made to Coeur d’Alene Homes Assisted Living and Memory Care, 624 W. Harrison Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814, who took extraordinary and loving care of Rose for the last year of her life or Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the volunteers of NOSDA for their many loving and spiritual visits to Rose.
