Opportunity is always positive
Let us be the first to wish you a Happy Easter.
The community we all love is at its best when the warmer weather is fully here and welcoming us to take to the outdoors.
Easter also is a great time for family gatherings and being thankful for our many blessings.
Millions of people nationwide will attend church today, and for many of them it will be the only day of the year they sit down in a sanctuary.
Churches will welcome them all with open arms, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Church leaders are eager to share their message.
A recent survey reveals that 69 percent of U.S. adults celebrate Easter as a religious holiday, while for those 18 to 27 the number is 56 percent.
While that shows most Americans can see through the candy consumption and egg hunts to the real meaning of the holiday, it shows there's still room for growth.
Opportunity is always positive.
Church leaders plan to jump at the chance, and some consider the holiday their Super Bowl of opportunity.
Churches are placing ads in newspapers, reserving space on billboards and readerboards, and publishing fliers. They want people coming through their doors today.
But if you go, don't look for flashy or dazzling productions.
Leaders will be sticking with the basic message. They hope "the good news" about the resurrection will seize the moment on its own.
