Michael Peter Obligato, 34
Michael P. Obligato of Dalton Gardens passed unexpectedly on March 27, 2013 in Coeur d’Alene.
He was born on March 28, 1978, in Burbank, Calif. He lived most of his early years in La Canada, Calif., with his parents, Jan and Pete Obligato, and younger sister Jana until the family moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1993. He attended Canfield Middle School and later graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1997. His keen interest and abilities in computer science led him to achieve certifications at New Horizons Technical School in Spokane. Mike, indeed, was the ‘go to’ person for the computer-challenged members of his family. He has always worked in retail businesses, and for the past five years has been employed by Fred Meyer.
His interests included music, video gaming, movies and ‘hanging’ with friends. He had three cats who were his most prized roommates because they never disagreed with any of his opinions or proclamations. He was very interested in current events and was not at a loss in expressing his thoughts, a talent he developed at a very young age. Michael was a thoughtful, generous and kind person who cared deeply for family and friends. Truly, his compassion extended beyond the family to anyone in need.
Survivors who will miss Mike greatly include parents Jan and Pete Obligato, sister Jana Obligato, aunts and uncles, Charles (Linda) Obligato, Rose (David) Moeller, Jeanine (Bill) Drake, Virginia (Jim) Witham, cousins Rose Marie Morrall, John C. Obligato (born on the same day, same year, as Mike), John Moeller, Sara Moeller, Brian Drake, Michael Drake, Lauri Drake-Mast, Kim Butler, Jennifer Bayless and many good friends. His grandparents who are no longer with us were Isabelle and Albert Obligato and Ardyce and Herschel Ovren who dearly loved Michael.
A memorial service honoring Mike’s life will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 North Fourth Street, Coeur d’Alene. Onsite reception follows the service. You may wish to visit Mike’s online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
