JESUS: Son of God deserves respect

| March 29, 2013 9:05 PM

The situation in Florida Atlantic University regarding student Ryan Rotela is disconcerting on so many levels.

On a personal level, I consider Jesus Christ to be the Son of God and Savior of the World, so it’s offensive to me for obvious reasons.

But even more troubling to me is the idea that out of a whole lecture hall of students, only ONE (in our Judeo/Christian-based society) would refuse to stomp on the name of Jesus. Only one. Were the others simply cowardly? Or was there really only one student in that class who believes in Jesus Christ?

Like I mentioned, I am a devout follower of Jesus Christ, so even if I were a college student being asked to stomp on the name of Buddha, I would adamantly refuse. Not because I follow Buddha’s teachings, but because it is completely disrespectful and mean-spirited.

In a nation that continually touts tolerance, why wouldn’t there be respect and decency when it comes to the Son of God?
