Helene Roevens, 90

Helene Roevens, 90, died peacefully on March 25, 2013, at North Star Retirement. She was born in Antwerp, Belgium, Sept. 27, 1945, to Ferdinand and Joanna DeBeukelaer.

Helene is preceded in death by her husband, Theo, in 1997. She and Theo were married Aug. 4, 1945.

Helene is survived by son Harry, daughter-in-law Betty of Bristol, Tenn.; daughter Viviane Knudsen, son-in-law Terry of Coeur d’Alene; son Jack, daughter-in-law Tina of Las Cruces, N.M.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Helene moved to Idaho in 1980 from Rolling Hills, Calif. She loved to travel, sports, gardening and volunteering. She was a member of the YMCA (Y’s men) and a hospital auxiliary member; a member of the Rambling Rovers. She loved soccer and enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s sports games and activities. Helene always loved talking and telling stories to anyone who would listen.

The family would like to thank all the staff at North Star for being so kind. We also extend our thanks to Hospice of North Idaho.
