BULLYING: School fails to do anything

| March 29, 2013 9:08 PM

I have a son who is being bullied at Lakes Magnet Middle School. For the last four months he has begun avoiding school and now has truancy charges.

He is only trying to avoid the bullies that are in every one of his classes.

They shove him, throw things at him, call him names. He is afraid they are going to shove him down the stairs at the school so he is late to two of his classes cause he waits to go on the stairs until he knows they are gone.

He has been punched by a kid who received no consequences other than a one day suspension I think.

This last winter he was outside and forgot his coat inside and a school attendant with keys to get into the building, refused to let him in to get his coat.

I was shocked when he got home. He was freezing. He is struggling to keep his grades up because he tries to get his work done quickly and escape the bullying.

The principal assured me over the phone that the whole school was aware and were taking care of it. He was very convincing.

However, the issue is still going on. I need help. I am going to change his school next year; however, I am preparing to sue the school.

My son is diagnosed with mental health issues and all his teachers, principal, secretaries and counselors are aware. I’ll end with this. Failure to protect and neglect.
