TREE: Will miss all it represents

| March 24, 2013 9:00 PM

Well, no matter how anyone else feels, the “powers that be” removed that beautiful tree anyway. It’s absurd that the “developers” could not find a way to work around the tree. Other places have, leaving beautiful significant trees in parking lots, etc. I even knew someone who built their house around a specific tree because it was too beautiful to cut down.

I love that when Boston Market built their place in front of Kmart, they preserved the beautiful ancient catalpa tree, as have the other businesses who have used that property. I have memories of the downtown Freedom Tree from my youth, seeing it all dressed up in lights at Christmas time.

It would really jerk my chain to find out that the people who are making this decision are relatively new to Cd’A and really don’t care about our history. Such a disappointment. Well, I’ve had my say. I hate to see this happen.
