COINS: Bad checks, bad enforcement
Why is it in today’s society that a person can run rampant writing bogus NSF checks and continually get away with it and it seems like no one wants to do anything about it? Some of the stuff I’ve been reading makes me sick when I think about how we treat bad check writers anymore.
The gentleman from the coin shop well knew that he didn’t have the money to cover the checks he was giving to the people he swindled. In my opinion this man should be arrested and held, till we sort out what finances he has and he shouldn’t be allowed to open any type of account with any bank. Why is it OK that under the guise of writing checks that should have been good we can’t prosecute him? This is a bunch of BS that he didn’t know or that something just unexpectedly happened and that is the reason they didn’t clear.
A person has to have the money in the bank before they issue a check and know how much they have. It’s pretty simple; a dollar in and a dollar out, simple addition and subtraction to know your balance and don’t give someone a check if it won’t clear and don’t write it on the hopes of someone else giving you some money to cover it.
The judicial system will spend more time, money and effort chasing down someone for a $35 speeding ticket than for someone who is cheating and stealing, who knows how much money from trusting people. Why doesn’t the city jerk his business license and the state rescind his incorporation status? Oh yeah, they still say he’s in good standing; OK to do business.
This guy has been doing this for way too long to let it go on. What about the RICO act, mail or wire fraud or how about just plain old theft charges because all he is doing is stealing from people? As taxpayers let’s focus the hard-earned money we send in on stopping crimes like this.
