GUNS: AMA isn't legitimate source

| March 20, 2013 9:39 PM

In your front page article on Sunday your writer quoted statistics that conflict with common knowledge of crime rates. This “study” in the A.M.A. is like sending a plumber out to research dental data and publish it in Mechanics Illustrated.

There is no mention of competing statistics that show Illinois and Maryland as having the highest gun-crime rates in the nation. Our Idaho gun laws are just fine, they reflect the feelings of most Idahoans and our elected officials. The states with the strictest gun laws seem to also be the states with the highest crime rates — they also are all “blue” states. Does this mean there is a political or social connection?

Amen to social responsibility. How about some of the same from our judges and parole boards that turn these killers loose to re-offend, i.e. Duncan?
