BULLY: Language contributes, too

| March 17, 2013 9:00 PM

Kudos to the editorial in the Press regarding bullying; I loved it. Then the picture in the business section caught my eye. The article dealt with fracking, but the picture could have used better language.

Come on people, children pick up coarse language both printed and spoken. What does this have to do with bullying? Plenty. If it is all right to use vulgar language, then it is all right to tease, taunt, make fun of others who are shy, weaker, different, do not fit in, etc.

From politicians to celebrities, to the printed word there is a lack of decency in terminology, leading children to believe that anything goes. Well, it doesn’t and it shouldn’t, and the only way to change this trend is to set a good example.

How about it people?
