Thomas attends UMSL certification program
Laurie Thomas, chief deputy to the Kootenai County treasurer of Coeur d'Alene, attended the legislative meeting of the National Association of County Collectors, Treasurers and Finance Officers in Washington, D.C., on March 1-2.
The meeting includes professional development courses in policy and management offered by the Public Policy Administration program at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
This year's coursework included a post-election economic update and a case study of Arlington County, Va., fiscal operations.
"The certificate program and its nationally recognized faculty keep the public servants who oversee county tax dollars current on best practices," said Deborah Balser, director and associate professor of the Public Policy Administration program at UMSL.
