TREE: Find way to let it live
Shame on you city council and the LCDC for once again removing a small piece of history for “progress.” The slated “killing” of the freedom tree is uncalled for. Remember, the people paying the designers/architects on a project tell them what to save and not the other way around.
The designers/architects of this cash-cow project should use a little bit of ingenuity and incorporate the living tree into the matrix and not a dead tree for benches that the taggers will use. Come on people — where there’s a will there’s a way. The tree is a symbol in our lovely city, but as with other war veterans of that age it seems not to be important. The tree has survived the rigors of city life and should be allowed to live for another 50 years.
I, for one hope the idea of freedom means forever and not when someone thinks a parking structure will suffice.
