Jerry Cookson, 72
In Loving Memory
?Jerry Cookson, 72, of Seattle, more recently residing in Coeur d'Alene, passed away suddenly on Feb. 16, 2013, while vacationing in Arizona.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Diane; his six children; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his brother, Tim and sisters, Donna and Carolyn.?Born July 31, 1940, in Seattle to Huessey D. and Vevah Cookson. He entered the U.S. Army Reserves in 1958 serving at Fort Ord, Calif., and Fort Bliss, Texas. After completing his service, he returned home to Renton, Wash., and married Diane A. Hyatt in July 1959. Together they raised six children; Kim Racklin, Deb Call, Liza Snyder, Michele Atchison, Ty Cookson and Shawn Cookson.?He learned the trade of masonry from his brother-in-law, Bud Hyatt, and passed on his knowledge to both of his sons. His work took the family to Boise in the winter of 1971. The next seven years at the old farm house on Victory Road were fondly remembered as the best years of his life. He often took his family on Sunday drives to the mountains, camping trips on various forks of the Boise River and many trips to Washington to visit family.?Jerry's greatest joy and happiness was his family. His words of wisdom, quick wit and love of laughter will be fondly remembered and missed by all who loved him. After a visit with family or friends, “I'm glad you got to see me,” would be delivered with a smile and followed with a big hug.?Over the last three years, he renewed his commitment and faith in Jesus Christ; finding peace.?Ephesians 2:8-9?For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.
