FOOD: Donor's offer rejected

I just read Brian Walker’s story on food banks and I don’t believe it. Just last week I tried to donate 50 pounds of potatoes to the Rathdrum food bank and they said they didn’t want them. When I was young we sometimes went for weeks when all we had to eat was potatoes and we were glad to have them. In the past when I would donate I would include meat and some vegetables with the potatoes but this time I could only afford the potatoes, and to be turned away like that is not right.

I still have the 50 pounds of potatoes sitting in the back of my car if anyone out there is really hungry. I will not donate to the Rathdrum food bank again.
