MURDOCK: This Mary is different

My name is Mary M. Murdock and I live in Hayden. Apparently there is another Mary Murdock in Athol who often expresses her right wing views in the Coeur d’Alene Press. I am Democratic Precinct Captain in my neighborhood; many people are confusing Ms. Murdock of Athol and myself.

I am proud to be a progressive, an active member of Kootenai County Democrats. I do not spend a great deal of time on Coeur d’Alene Press opinions but I do spend my time supporting our vets providing flagging classes free of charge. I work tirelessly to make animal cruelty a felony through a ballot measure that failed to make the 2012 ballot. I worked to gather signatures that put the Luna laws on the 2012 ballots that sensible Idahoans approved. I am a proud member of Laborers International Union of North America local 238 and even work on “right to work” Idaho roads though I worry if I will get a bathroom or lunch break sometimes.

Honestly my expectations from Idaho’s Good Ol’ Boy Republicans are not much. I believe in freedom and equality, but that government has no part in enforcing one group’s morality on everyone else. I am Mary Murdock of Hayden so people will know I am not her, and certainly do not share her views.
