Logan Pass opens from the east side

Motorists are now able to reach Logan Pass from the east side of Glacier National Park.

Going-to-the-Sun Road recently opened from the St. Mary side of the park to Logan Pass.

West-side access to Logan Pass is expected to be open Friday.

Until the full 50-mile length of road opens, vehicles on the west side can travel as far as Avalanche Creek. The later west-side opening is due to road construction between Avalanche Creek and Logan Creek.

For east-side travelers, there will be restrooms at Logan Pass but potable water will not be available until next week. The visitor center at the pass remains closed for now.

Visitors will discover a snow-covered landscape at the pass and winter weather may be encountered with low temperatures and icy conditions. People are encouraged to dress appropriately for unpredictable and rapidly changing weather. Trails remain snow-covered in the park's high country.
