ORDINANCE: Hey, enough already

| June 14, 2013 6:01 AM

The vote is in, the ordinance passed and we should be moving on, but as evidenced by the articles and letters to the editor in the CDA Press, which in themselves prove this clarification of the constitution was so badly needed, we are going to continue to be subjected to the same redundant rants and deliberate misconceptions of what this law does.

This law does not protect a bad employee, it does not protect a disruptive patron of a business, it does not allow lewd behavior in public. What it does do is prevent you from using sexual orientation as the reason for not hiring, firing, or refusing service.

Another misconception was demonstrated in a letter by Leah Madison, an obviously good Christian, when she stated that it’s her God-given right to discriminate against whomever she wants. What can I say but even a heathen like me knows that is wrong.

The comments made by all those who seem to be entitled to throw the first stone, who most likely had bacon for breakfast, are most enlightening. These people who are suddenly willing to only obey one or two rules and flat disobey all the other rules out of a whole book of rules, that was written by men for the singular purpose of controlling men, are just simply astounding to say the least, but I guess as long as you once in a while quote a few scriptures and pay your tithing that is supposed to go to the lord’s work and not support the lifestyle of your pastor, minister, priest or whatever, but again that’s a rule to be ignored; all is forgiven.

One more really big but not the last misconception is the fact that if you think anyone can control who you fall in love with or would choose to wake up and say I want to be abused and hated by most of the so-called Christians is (and I went through and through my thesaurus for the best word) NUTS.
