CDA: Vote isn't very biblical

| June 14, 2013 6:05 AM

I have spent the last few days mulling over in my mind why five out of six seemingly intelligent city council members could support an ordinance that embraces deviant sexual behavior? The following is my conclusion as to WHY.

The council meeting began with a prayer (an acknowledgment of God) followed by The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag also an acknowledgment of God in the phrase “one nation under God”. After the opening formalities it became obvious that five council members dismissed God from the meeting.

I tried to bring God back into the equation by reading a portion of The Declaration of Independence that refers to God our Creator. Numerous others throughout the evening quoted Scriptures only to be ignored. The Declaration of Independence is a statement by the people of the New World declaring their independence from a tyrannical government of England to which they were in bondage.

Some of those who said they were gay or lesbian said their life was miserable and they would never have chosen the homosexual lifestyle. Deviant sexual behavior leads to addiction similar to pornography and substance abuse. These addicts desperately need deliverance from bondage. Society’s acceptance of their lifestyle does not set them free from bondage.

Some supporters of homosexuality inferred that those who did not support the ordinance were homophobic and hateful. However, by far the majority would lovingly reach out to help homosexuals. Real hate comes from those who reject the truth.

A number of times councilman Gookin asked people who testified what the logic was in their remarks. That question needs to be directed to Mr. Gookin. What is the logic behind your vote? A good dictionary definition of logic is “Reason or sound judgment."Proverbs 9:10 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”

The logic in the summary remarks by the five council members who voted for the ordinance was circular and extremely weak. In contrast, councilman Steve Adams spoke clearly, logically, and truthfully.

I challenge all who read these words to continue to humbly proclaim the Truth. “The Truth will set you free.”
