Dorothy Jean Tireman Capes, 89

| June 13, 2013 9:00 PM

April 22, 1924—June 7, 2013

This strong and beloved Air Force mother often raised her two children alone while her husband was serving our country. It is evident what an incredible woman she was by the two brilliant children she raised and in turn the children they raised. She was an executive secretary, ballroom dancer, singer, bridge player, pianist, a good friend, and an active member of Unity Church of North Idaho and part of the prayer ministry. She knitted for the homeless. She had a passion for puzzles, books, and reading that she has passed on to her family. As an avid sports enthusiast, she loved to watch golf, tennis, and the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Her family describes her as wise, quick-witted, loving, determined, compassionate, supportive, family-oriented, fearlessly loyal, adventurous, straightforward and not afraid to speak her mind. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by: her children; Bob (Shirley) and Peggy Capes; her grandchildren, Michelle, Deborah, Daniel (Heidi), and Lisa Capes; and great-grandchildren, Zoe, Leiell, and Sage Capes, and Lauren Montgomery. A Memorial Service will be held at Unity church of North Idaho, 4465 N. 15th St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 4 p.m. with a potluck to follow the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of North Idaho.
