ULUC: Buffer against idiocy
I could not disagree more with the anti ULUC crowd. For crying out loud, how can any thinking person with the greater good at heart actually suggest that turning a swelling population loose and hoping for the best is the way to go? Or doesn’t the fact that Kootenai County now leads all Idaho counties in crime rate matter?
Those apartment dwellers in West Texas are such an example. The get ‘er done crowd builds next to an industrial chemical fertilizer plant. The fertilizer plant tragically blows up and levels homes and ruins lives. So, yes, we do have to idiot proof the world.
I am to the point that if one truly penciled out all the unsustainable developer costs being loaded on to the backs of taxpayers and ratepayers for roads, schools, energy, water, sewer, solid waste, police and fire protection that the lump sum fee for such additional services for rows of new homes would be prohibitive. Call it a ghetto mitigation fee if you need to, but suddenly the declining neighborhoods people leave behind don’t seem so bad when they have to pay their own way.
And thanks to government handouts, more poor now live in suburbs and bedroom communities like ours than in inner cities across the U.S. People can be idle and draw a check anywhere. Pro-growth development is any Section 8 housing assistance recipient’s best friend. Defeat the ULUC and maybe we can rename our state Idleho.
Medicaid moms have to live somewhere.
