GOP: Far right is not wrong
In a recent “My Turn” column Mr. Earl Parker writes about Republican right-wingers. If he did not say he worked with Ronald Reagan I would have thought he worked with Joe Biden. Compromise, middle of the road, getting along, wanting to be loved; all these phrases sound nice, but to me are simply “TOTAL BS.”
Mr. Parker writes to make readers think that right-wingers are able to “capture” our minds and thus control our thoughts and our actions. Right-wingers have only a single vote, just like you and I. Each of us makes up our own mind. If voters choose to go a different direction then that’s life. It’s not difficult to understand why Idaho is a Republican state. California 30 years ago had Republican representation but Republicans “screwed it up.” They began to implement Earl Parker’s beliefs and today California is a haven for liberalism and financially bankrupt.
I do not mind anyone leaving California and moving to Idaho. It is a free country. What I do mind though is people like Earl Parker telling me that I need to compromise my values and standards. I am almost 70, a God-fearing Christian and my first allegiance is to my God and what His Word tells me concerning right and wrong. No compromise here. No middle-of-the-road here. These wishy-washy traits are exactly why America is in the condition it is in today. It’s time more people begin to stand for something and forget about compromise.
