ACCIDENT: Victim seeks information

| July 14, 2013 9:00 PM

We need your help.

My husband, Ken Marker, 71, of Hayden, was in the Ironman race in Coeur d’Alene on June 23. He was in a biking accident on the 95 bridge going southbound when a motor home flew by him and knocked several road cones in his path. One hit his bike, throwing him to the ground. He was knocked out and sustained several injuries — four broken ribs, a separated shoulder, several cuts and abrasions. He needs surgery.

We are looking for anyone who might have witnessed this accident, which happened around 10 a.m. If anyone saw the accident or knows someone who did, got the license plate number of the motor home or any other information about the vehicle, or got photos at the scene, we’d like to hear from you. Please contact me at (208) 699-7827.

This is a mystery, with no write-up from officials, no contact from Ironman as to how Ken was doing or even if he was alive. It was like the accident never happened.

There were three injuries on the bike course, one involving a young woman by the name of Shai who had a broken pelvis, and another young woman named Trish was hit by a cone in the knees but was able to complete the race.

Ken would like to thank the girl who marked him that morning, as she was in the medical tent when he was brought in and came to see how he was. That was very special and greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Press readers, for your help in this matter.
