LETTERS: Act like loving Christians

| July 7, 2013 9:00 PM

I am seeing a lot of hate in the Opinion pages of The Press lately, most of it in response to the recent policy changes concerning discrimination based on sexual orientation. Many of these comments are penned (typed?) by self-proclaimed members of the Christian faith.

As a fellow Christian, I have to wonder about which translation of the Bible these gentle people are reading? In my copy, Christ teaches us that people without sin can throw stones, that everyone sins, that even people with whom you disagree should be treated with love and compassion.

I am confused by the goal of the intolerance I am seeing. I’ve always thought of Christianity as a program of attraction; hateful members sure don’t help. If you consider homosexual behavior to be sinful, by all means obey your conscience and abstain from it.
