POSTAL: Help us help ourselves

| July 3, 2013 9:00 PM

Even though I am nearing retirement, it would be irresponsible for me to leave my employer financially unstable. Like it or not, this is a problem that faces all of us but there are realistic positive solutions that exist to handle this situation. Action has to be taken, and taken soon.

Two bills introduced in Congress this year, S. 316 and H.R. 630, both called “The Postal Service Protection Act” can overturn the financial concerns of the USPS and make it realistic for us to continue to provide service for many years to come. Please contact your representatives in Congress and ask them to support these bills. No tax dollars are used whatsoever. We want to use our own resources to solve our own problems but it takes literally an act of Congress. Why focus on negative solutions when positive solutions exist?

The closing of mail processing plants and the elimination of six-day delivery of mail to five-day delivery, or less, will be more burdensome on the customers who use the USPS. Reductions in services are totally unnecessary. The people of America deserve the best possible service.
