KITTY: Story ends happily
On Jan. 17 I got the surprise of my life! I received a call from Kootenai Humane Society and they said, “I think we have your cat.” At first I was puzzled because my cat was at home with me. Then I asked them in disbelief, “Do you have Neko?” Neko, along with four other cats, had been taken from our yards 14 months ago and I had long feared that he was dead.
I want to express a BIG thank you to Bob Shini and his wife for their part in helping my beautiful Bengal cat, Neko, be returned to me. They cared enough to feed him when he showed up at their house looking thin and hungry and then took him to the Kootenai Humane Society to have them check for a chip.
I also want to thank the kind people at the Humane Society for checking not once or twice for a chip but even a third time before hearing the “beep.” If I had not had Neko chipped years ago I would not have him home with me now.
I have a feeling I owe Thank Yous to many other people who may have helped Neko survive these past 15 months. He is a tri-color Bengal with a blind right eye. He is nearly 12 years old and without help I am sure he would not have survived. It would be nice to hear from anyone who may remember him.
Also, last but not least, I want to thank the Cd’A Press for following me to the Humane Society and taking a picture of our reunion and printing such a nice article. It feels like a miracle that Neko is home!
