Cora F. O'Donnell (Squires) Smalley, 79
Cora F. O’Donnell (Squires) Smalley, 79, passed away Jan. 18, 2013 at Hayden Valley Assisted Living in Hayden Lake, Idaho.
Born Nov. 26, 1933, Cora was a full-time mother and wife. Her former husbands, Merlyn Smalley and Robert O’Donnell, provided for her and she never had to work outside the home.
Through the years, Cora was recognized and received awards for her generous support of Shriners Hospital.
She spoke often of her brother Kenneth’s singing.
Before moving to Hayden Valley Assisted Living, at Cora’s request, she went to live with her daughter, Janet McMillan and Janet’s husband Mark, so she could spend time with her family during her illness.
Cora was very thankful to Hospice of North Idaho, Rose Terrace Assisted Living in Coeur d’Alene, her doctors, Hayden Valley Assisted Living, and her sister Verna, who helped her for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Pearl Squires; her brother, Kenneth; sisters, Edna and Mary; and former husband, Merlyn Smalley.
Cora is survived by sister, Verna and brother, Leonard. She is also survived by her children: Robert Smalley; Sherry Brockway; Janet McMillan and husband, Mark; Michelle O’Donnell; former husband, Robert O’Donnell; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
It was Cora’s request that those who wish to lift her up do so with the hymn, “Lily of the Valley.”
No services are planned at this time.
