GUNS: NRA is buying its way
The NRA has boldly, and with hands on their hips, declared that Congress will NOT pass gun legislation: no way, no how, no matter how responsible, it ain’t gonna happen.
“The NRA’s deep pockets help bolster allies and punish lawmakers who buck the powerful weapons lobby.” The NRA pays out the largest amount of money to our lawmakers directly and to their various other campaign accounts to vote the way the NRA wants. Or withholds the money. Bought and sold — as plain as that.
Oh, you thought you voted for your congress person to represent you? Never going to happen. They say they will and then when the NRA or other lobbyist come around with those big checks the folks back home are totally forgotten.
In case you are still naive, we have powerful lobbyist also running our state legislatures. Your vote doesn’t count there either. Did you know that a single legislator cannot present a bill for a hearing or consideration on his own?
It has to go through the committee chairperson and if he/she personally does not like the bill, it gets put in a desk drawer and dies.
One person has that much power — wow.
One man, one vote? It’s more like $100,000 plus for one congressman’s vote.
