HOSPICE: How could it be eliminated?

| December 29, 2013 8:25 PM

As I read the Hospice Counselor’s Farewell article of 12/22/13, I was deeply saddened. I have had first-hand experience with Hospice and the loss of my mother 2 years ago. The support that was given to me at that time was priceless and continues to help in moving forward. It is hard to understand how something so important to so many could be eliminated in a blink of an eye.

Yes, I realize we are living in times of cutbacks and decisions must be made for budgets. But I wonder ... with something of such a personal nature to so many in a community, could this have been handled better for all involved? I give my deepest gratitude and thanks to all Hospice counselors that gave their time and understanding from their hearts.
