GUNS: County's song and dance
David Cole accurately presented the facts from the county commissioners’ meeting on the gun-control issue. I would like to focus on the tone of the meeting.
The county commissioners met with two other elected officials to discuss gun rights, the Constitution and duties of the sheriff. It was an interesting dance. Choreography was by the prosecutor, so it was predictably complex, which did not seem to please the audience.
The music was smooth but the footwork was a little awkward, with too many back steps and side steps. The old favorite “I’ll Love You Always but Not Just Now” was played way too many times and the new one, “Don’t Tell Me What to Do” by The Law Enforcer, was judged most inappropriate. A better choice might have been “What Harm Can Love Do?”
The program ended with “Maybe Tomorrow” and “The Wishy-Washy Waltz.” There seemed to be a risk that some might dance right out of the courthouse.
