HEADLINE: Did not fit opinion

| December 20, 2013 8:00 PM

Headlines to articles can set a tone for that article, and if they do not accurately reflect the content of the article they are headlining, they can incite inappropriate responses. I recently submitted an article about the EFFECTS on Americans by the implementation of “Obamacare” — not regarding the law itself or the pros or cons of it. I think that matter speaks for itself.

However, the headline attached to my article read: “Watch as Obama’s web of lies fall apart.” Some people, seeing this headline, would put a spin on what they expected would be in the article, and they reacted to the headline itself even before they could read the article objectively. Even though this article was my observation of the possible political turn of the country, I knew that I would be personally “attacked” in response because that is expected from some liberals. I consider the source of the expected diatribes and respectfully disagree with them. I have that right and that obligation.
