Bill Kitchen, 75
Bill Kitchen went home to be with the Lord on the 14th of December, 2013.
Bill was born in Portland, Oregon on October 29, 1938 to Norman and Leona (Knight) Kitchen. He was raised and resided in the Portland area until 2008. Bill attended Fernwood Elementary and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1956. He loved his country and served in the Army Reserves in 1957. His career took him from Harold Kelly’s Furniture to DuPont, and then to Christensen Oil for 28 years, all in Portland, Oregon. He served as a Boy Scout Leader as his father had done, and was active in his children’s Parent Teacher Association. He was active in bowling for himself and his children, traveling with them to tournaments. He remodeled homes and worked on car projects. When his Church doors were open, Bill was there. He was a good friend and neighbor.
In October 2008, Bill moved to Coeur d’Alene. His biggest joy was getting married to Elizabeth followed by taking her on a cruise – the “Coeur d’Alene Resort Santa Cruise.” A tradition they continued to do each year. Bill loved people and loved to travel, going to Alaska twice, the Eastern and Western Caribbean, British Columbia, Glacier Park, Mt. Rushmore and this last fall a 7,000 mile drive to 10 western states. He was always planning the next adventure.
Bill has left behind his wife Elizabeth, his sister Sandra Albo, his son Trevor Kitchen, daughters Katrina Wanless, Angela Kitchen and Nichole Kitchen, son Travis Kitchen, his stepdaughters and their husbands: Anissa and Quintin Albright, and Kym and Randy Harris; grandchildren TJ, Seth, Linzy, Elise, Brendan, Josie, Grant, Taiven and Jaddin; and great grandchildren London and Kylee.
He is preceded in death by his father Norman Kitchen, mother Leona Kitchen, stepfather Victor ‘Van’ Vandenberg, and sister Verity Ann O’Keefe.
