TWIN FALLS (AP) - A rural school district in southern Idaho is expanding its before- and after-school program thanks to a five-year grant.
The Times-News reports the Murtaugh School District was awarded a $600,000 grant from 21st Century Community Learning Centers. The money will allow the district to expand its after-school program from two days to four days a week.
Superintendent Michele Capps says the program is important because there's no place else for kids to go. About 120 students attend the before- and after-school programs in Murtaugh. They participate in crafts, play games, work on homework and get tutoring help when needed.
