Reward increased for tips on grizzly bear shooting

KALISPELL - Montana wildlife officials continue to seek tips on the shooting death of a grizzly bear found Nov. 3 northeast of Ovando in the Blackfoot Valley.

Those that share information on the case may now receive up to $6,600 due to several private donations.

Those donations bumped the reward amount from the original offering of $1,000. The tips have to lead to a conviction in the case.

Callers can remain anonymous and should phone (800) TIP-MONT (1-800-847-6668).

The female grizzly bear died of a gunshot wound and had three cubs of the year.

Montana, Fish, Wildlife and Parks was able to trap two of the cubs and they will be transferred to the Bronx Zoo. Multiple attempts to capture the third cub were unsuccessful.
