TAXES: Take toll on Cd'A seniors

| December 4, 2013 8:00 PM

The letter said “Merry Christmas and Seasons greetings from your Kootenai County Treasurer’s Office.” Not so sure.

My tax bill went up $580 from last year’s bill on my condo. My tax bill is now $2,203.54. Allowing for my homeowner’s exemption, my place is worth $141,861. Like most retired people I have to budget each month, and that $580 increase is an extra $48 a month that I now have to come up with.

I hope the new mayoral team carefully watches where they spend our tax dollars improving our city. If they do not, they will be improving the city for young people, because our seniors will be priced out of the city.
