UGM: Tour an 'enlightenment'
The Union Gospel Mission Center for Women and Children hosted the North Idaho Retired Educators recently with a luncheon and tour of the new facilities.
The business meeting was conducted by President Darleen Sheldon with reports from the standing committees, including legislative, regional and Idaho State Retired Educators information. The monthly food bank donations went to the Post Falls Food Bank.
After the business meeting the group was given a tour of the facility, which is a very complete environment for the recovery of women and children needing help in any way. Five phases of recovery spread over a period of 18 months to two years are offered, dedicated to the whole person: Physical, emotional, social and spiritual.
Accomplished through a myriad of volunteers from every area of expertise, the Center includes recovery efforts in physical, educational, social and emotional health for women and their children. What an enlightenment this special meeting was for the members of the North Idaho Retired Educators.
The organization welcomes all retired school personnel to join them. For more information, call Karen Melton, 773-1349, or Darleen Sheldon, 676-1928. The November meeting will be at the Post Falls Senior Center on Monday, November 25, 11:00 a.m. The program will be a presentation about the Civil War Underground Quilting by Arlene Whitney from Spokane Valley.
